FreeDesk (http://www.freedesk.com) is one of a breed of virtual offices that, in
addition to file storage and sharing, offers its own suite of software applications. Called ASPs (Application Service Providers), these services provide a suite of software tools which reside, at least in part, on
the Internet. FreeDesk includes a spreadsheet, wordprocessor, graphics package, mail service, web page editor, presentation development software, file manager and "dialpad" for internet telephony.
ThinkFree (http://www.thinkfree.com) provides free desktop applications via the
Internet which are very much like Microsoft Office -- so very much like Microsoft Office that if you understand Office, there's really nothing to learn. You can even read and write to any Office file with your
ThinkFree utilities, which include word processor, spreadsheet, presentation and file manager.
